Nintendo Announces New Official Adjustable Switch Charging Stand

Don't brick your Switch -- buy official!

9

Nintendo has just announced an official adjustable charging stand for the Nintendo Switch, so you can stop buying those third-party cradles and chargers that are bricking your systems.

Coming July 13, the charging stand will run you $19.99, but it'll make Tabletop mode a lot simpler since you can just keep your precious handheld charging even while you're powering through Super Mario Odyssey or getting down with a game of 1-2-Switch with your friends. There's an AC adapter port on the side of the stand, so you can keep it in Tabletop mode for simpler and longer charging sessions.

If you're looking to pick one of these stands up, you'll have to seek one out when it hits retailers in-store or online soon -- it doesn't look like it's available anywhere just yet, as Nintendo continues its tradition of announcing things in the middle of the night on a weekday. It's definitely good news, though! I'll want to pick one up, for sure.

A plastic wedge for $20. Isn't specifically mentioned, but I'm guessing that doesn't come with an adapter.

Fuck off, Nintendo. You can do better than this. BE BEST.

Lol they can? History is in your disfavor when it comes to consumer friendliness, reasonable accessorizing and ease of use.

A plastic wedge with a USB-C connector that doesn't bulge out. Seems like a decent deal to me though, like you said, probably doesn't come with an AC adapter.

IIRC the Switch's AC adapter is just USB-C - the more standardized these cables become, the more likely you are to see them stop being bundled with various products.

No it's not. It doesn't follow spec and third party chargers brick the console

Well, third party docks with HDMI out brick the console, but you can just straight up recharge the thing (not playing it) with a standard USB-C cable.

You can, it just doesn't follow protocol. Hoping they do it right with the next one.

Yup, I'd use it full time if it did. Still useful, and in the mean time I'll eventually mod my original to remove the completely fucking pointless face plate.

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with their headquarters being in Japan.

I want a TV dock that will allow you lay the console flat . It would like like so much easier for those that want to keep a switch in a crowded entertainment center.
