Defuse a Hostage Situation in Detroit: Become Human Demo Starting Tomorrow

How will your story play out?

2

Detroit: Become Human, Quantic Dream's upcoming saga of androids and their struggle to fit into an increasingly hostile society, has officially gone gold. That's fantastic news for the studio, as well as players, because that means there's a demo coming tomorrow in celebration of this milestone. You'll be able to jump into the world of Detroit for the first time on PlayStation 4 and play through the very first scene of the game, known as Hostage, when the demo goes live on the PlayStation Network.

The Hostage scene allows players to take control of investigator android Connor, who's been tasked by police to assist with matters where androids have gone beyond their programming. He's facing off against a "deviant," as these androids are called, who's taken a little girl hostage after murdering someone. Connor must work to defuse the situation as best as he can and save the little girl before she's hurled over the edge of a skyscraper. You can arrive at several different endings in this demo, and it seems no one is safe from being killed off. It's a small window into how you can shape Detroit's narrative to your liking as the story wears on.

Shacknews recently had a chance to try out a good portion of Detroit: Become Human, and Ozzie Mejia has a full writeup of his thoughts on the game ahead of its May 25 release. If you're jonesing for your fix of the next Quantic Dream mix, you only have about a month left until you can get your hands on the full game. Until then, hopefully the demo will tide you over.
