Shovel Knight took the gaming world by storm in 2014 when it launched, and Yacht Clubt Games continues to reap the benefits four years later. The indie developer just posted a massive post to the official Yacht Club Games blog announcing that Shovel Knight has just passed 2 million copies sold worldwide. For Shovelry!

To celebrate the milestone, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove will be on sale for 20% off all week. This includes Switch, Wii U, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Vita, Steam, Humble and GOG stores. If you missed out on this game, now is your chance to get your shovel on at a great price. As Yacht Club Games has done in the past when reaching major sales milestones, the company has provided a ton of sales data.

One interesting nugget from the massive data dump is that Shovel Knight sales would have been down year over year in 2017 if it weren't for the Nintendo Switch. It is also important to note that while Windows is the largest platform for sales by percentage, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Switch combined for 55.8% of the 2 million copies sold. Yacht Club disclosed that Shovel Knight surpassed one million copies sold on Nintendo platforms in September of 2017. Now you're playing with power!

Yacht Club Games notes that Shovel Knight sold faster on Switch than any other platform. PC was the previous leader with first month sales of nearly 70,000 copies, but Switch obliterated that record with almost 110,000 copies sold in the first month.

Congratulations to Yacht Club Games on the continued success of Shovel Knight. They put together a mega infographic summing up their blog post for fans to check out. The developer teased, "We can’t wait to show you everything we’re working on next." Hopefully we will get some news from the folks at Yacht Club Games this year, but in the meantime we should all raise our shovels in celebration of Shovel Knight's continued success. For Shovelry!
