The latest video from Obsidian gives us a solid look at the RPG we'll be diving into in May.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire experienced a full month delay, but Obsidian is full steam ahead on building up the hype for the massive cRPG. Today, the team has released a lengthy trailer showing off the new additions the sequel brings and it looks like fans are going to be in for quite a massive adventure.

The new features trailer gives you a look at all the pieces that make Deadfire is bigger and better. The most significant addition to the Pillars formula is ships and the accompanying naval battle and exploration allowed.

If you haven’t checked out my hands-on with Pillars of Eternity 2, you should certainly do so. Obsidian struck gold with the first Pillars and, with the many additions that are lined up for the sequel, the dev is establishing a series on very solid ground. Here's an excerpt from the hands-on:

"At a glimpse, combat in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire can seem overwhelming. Even on the "Story" difficulty, where combat engagements are lesser obstacles to experiencing Deadfire to completion, you can certainly be defeated if you don't take care. If you're not one to micromanage in combat, party AI has improved enough that they'll hold their own. As long as you target the right enemies in the right order, you won't have any problems. If you desire a deeper, true role-playing experience, there's an ocean's worth for you to dive into."

Stay tuned to Shacknews for a look at the preview build’s ship combat and management in the near future. Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire comes to PC on May 8, 2018, and is available for pre-order now.
