Nintendo shared that a plethora of titles were in the works for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year and a Shin Megami Tensei entry was one of many teased. Today, Atlus confirms that Switch users will be playing the next major entry in the series and revealed a trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V.
We now know this will be the fifth entry in the main series of Shen Megami Tensei games, but not much beyond that. It's confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch and, while it isn't confirmed to be exclusive just yet, it would make sense considering the previous game was a Nintendo exclusive as well.
Shin Megami Tensei is a branch of RPGs based on the Megami Tensei (or Mega Ten) media franchise in Japan. Many of the entries have their own stories and don't require players to experience previous entries to follow, but all have recurring elements: A post-apocalyptic setting peppered with hostile demons inspired by various religious, RPG tropes, etc that you can recruit and take into battle. The Persona series, which also saw its fifth main entry release this year, is inspired by the same world as well.
