Good Old Games is offering up to 40% off select titles to celebrate the happenings at Gamescom 2010.
In selecting the discounted titles, GOG decided to go with software "that originated or were very successful in the land of great cars, good football teams and last but not least beer & wurst." Yeah, it's pretty ambiguous.

If you were interested in taking a quest with the most famous Mudokon of them all but thought the asking price was a little steep, we have some good news. The classic PC game-loving crew at Good Old Games have reduced the prices on both Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, forever.
Both DRM-free titles are now available for $5.99 (down from $9.99), giving eager players no reason to ignore the classic Oddworld Inhabitants-developed titles. Unless that reason is you don't have $6, in which case you should probably come back after you remedy that situation.

The celebrated vintage scrolling shooter Raptor: Call of the Shadows has taxied onto digital distributor Good Old Games, slightly updated in a $5.99 '2010 Edition'.
Cygnus Studios' 1994 shareware superstar has been revamped with "improved graphics and native support for higher resolutions," says GOG. If you don't enjoy the somewhat crude upscaling and filtering, however, you can have the original graphics. Read more »

Weekends are, of course, for buying discount digitally-distributed PC games so we've rounded up the best bargains going, including a monster RPG sale at GamersGate that includes Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 for $15 apiece and Torchlight for $5.
Of particular note is indie developer Amanita's Machinarium 'Pirate Amnesty' which sees the adventure game reduced to $5 in the hope of guilting the estimated 85-95% of players who pirated the game into buying it. The splendid soundtrack's included too. Read more »

The PC game enthusiasts at Good Old Games have announced a new member in its anti-DRM army, and he's got some serious skills. Croteam's original (and maniacal) Serious Sam franchise is coming to GOG.com, beginning today with the release of Serious Sam: The First Encounter. Sam's second encounter is slated to release soon. Both titles are priced at $9.99, each.
"The agreement with Devolver Digital brings the original Serious Sam series -- not that fancy, newfangled HD stuff -- to the vast catalogue of classics," the announcement press release joked. "GOG.com is the only place on the internet to get the original first two parts of the Serious Sam adventures." Read more »

Presto Studios' celebrated time-shifting adventure game The Journeyman Project 2: Buried in Time today jumped onto the virtual shelves of vintage video game vendor Good Old Games, available as a DRM-free download now for $5.99.

Monolith's 1998 gory shooter sequel Blood II: The Chosen was today added to the catalogue of virtuous virtual vintage video game vendor Good Old Games at the small price of $5.99, complete with its expansion pack 'The Nightmare Levels.'
Continuing the story of the original Blood--which hit GOG last week--into the year 2028 with all the usual gore and black humour, Blood II boasts several playable characters. Read more »

Monolith's ultra-gory Build Engine shooter Blood has been digitally re-released on PC by virtual vendor Good Old Games, continuing its run of Atari additions as promised.
The $5.99 'One Unit Whole Blood' pack contains the delightful 1997 shooter, completely free from DRM, as well as its two 'Plasma Pak' and 'Cryptic Passage' addons. GOG's penchant for bonuses persists, with the downloadable soundtrack included for free. Read more »

Virtuous virtual vintage video games vendor Good Old Games today added PC classics Outcast and Master of Orion 1 & 2 to its catalogue, priced at $5.99 each.
Simtex's celebrated galactic conquest strategy Master of Orion inspired the coining of the term '4X'--explore, expand, exploit and exterminate--in 1993 with its delightful blend of research, diplomacy and combat. Good Old Games, a DRM-free digital distribution service for older PC games, will be adding titles from publisher Atari in the coming weeks.
Outcast, Master of Orion, and Master of Magic are the first titles named in the new deal, which should begin showing up on the service in April.
"This is a great step forward for GOG.com and DRM-free digital distribution," said Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt and GOG.com. "This deal is really just the first step in what we expect will be a long and fruitful relationship. The 15th Anniversary Edition of Another World (aka Out of this World) is now available on GOG.com.
The adventure game, originally released in April of 2006, is a remastered version of the original, which was released in 1991. Included in the $9.99 package is a 20-minute 'Making Of' video.
Title title has a reputation for being extremely difficult and completely awesome.

Good Old Games' "Month of Activision" rolls on as the digital distributor adds The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery, King's Quest 4-6 and Call to Power 2 to its catalogue of DRM-free vintage video games this week.
Full-motion video adventure game Gabriel Knight 2 is available now for $5.99, while Thursday will see the arrival of the comic trio of King's Quest adventures in a $9.99 bundle and the turn-based empire-building strategy Call to Power 2 for $5.99.
