At Sony's E3 press conference, the company announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 would be coming to PlayStation 4 this fall. Andrew House notably didn't call it an exclusive, but did say that both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players would be able to transfer their saves to the PS4 version. A subsequent update on Rockstar's own videos page confirmed it would be coming to PC and Xbox One as well, and presumably the same kind of save transfer system would work for those systems too.

Where's the press release with other platforms mentioned? They did not say exclusive.

True, though that thing about online stats from either console working on PS4 was a bit odd.

Anyone notice the increase of traffic in the video? Also, I'm really hoping they'll have some sort of upgrade option for current PS3 owners.

Yep, I played GTA4 PS3 / PC within a day of each other and damnit the traffic increase is huge.

I'm pretty pumped about this. I knew they were going to eventually release it but I'm glad it's now official. I'm on my 2nd playthrough on SP and I have no doubt I'll buy it again on PS4 and play through it again.

It's a tough decision for me, I'm for the most part really over PC gaming - but I do know the PC version will look better.

If there's some GOTY DLC full pack on PS4 maybe I'll go that route.

I am the same way, but I did buy and play it on the PS3. Honestly, I'll probably just buy int on the PS4. The PC versions of GTA games are always buggy.

Yeah GTA4 on PC was a piece of shit but it's finally fixed. I fired it up this weekend on a fairly beast video card and it looks pimp as shit AND controlled properly.

That's true about the PC version looking better. But with how poorly GTA4 ran on PC after release, I think I'll go with the PS4 version.

I'd guess they're still going for 30fps on all platforms, and with the more similar architectures this time around it shouldn't be horrible on one compared to another. They're still going to let you max all the options on PC beyond what mid-range is capable of, though. I have to wonder if they bothered with replay system and video editor on PC this time, the new consoles have recording built in. Hope they still have the custom MP3 station with radio chatter interludes.

If I had all the systems I'd still get PC for future benefits, mods, free online, and mouse control so I can actually hit something I'm shooting at while driving..

Dodging traffic and dumb pedestrians provides the most exciting chases and escapes, but I'd assume there will still be a slider to adjust the amount of traffic on PC if that's a hassle for you.

You mean the system where the calculate exactly what speed cars crossing have to go to hit you and wait until the last moment to change into your lane? It's fun sometimes, but often it's a serious pain in the ass that is next to impossible to avoid.

      From Rockstar:

Today we're proud to announce that the critically-acclaimed and record-breaking Grand Theft Auto V is coming this fall to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North’s epic reimagining of Southern California.

Switch between the interconnected lives of Michael, Trevor and Franklin as they embark on a series of heists across Los Santos and Blaine County in the biggest, deepest and richest open world experience yet, with game world enhancements that include new wildlife, upgraded weather and damage effects, and an array of new details to discover.

The new generation upgrades also extend to Grand Theft Auto Online, an ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe. Rise through the criminal ranks by banding together to complete Jobs for cash, purchase properties, vehicles and character upgrades, compete in traditional competitive modes, or create your own content to play and share with the Grand Theft Auto community.

All new content and gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and PC with much more to come. In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC.

Grand Theft Auto V for PC will also feature a video editor designed for advanced movie-making.

Check out the new video that debuted tonight during Sony's E3 press conference above, and look for pre-order links beginning tomorrow Tuesday June 10th at rockstargames.com/V/order.

I hope they overhaul the way jobs work right now because it kind of sucks. It's a PITA to launch and there's no cohesiveness. Also, why aren't there any heists and missions like protect the witness or shit like that? It's races or go here, kill dudes, get drugs and drive back.

Fuck, I really hope they do something about the car despawning - It really sucks when you try to make a huge pileup on the freeway, and when you turn around for a sec, half of it is gone.

That's always been one of the most annoying open world quirks in this series. Was deliberate for memory and performance reasons, but even when the games came to PC where that wasn't as big an issue it was never really changed. Would be great if they did something about it this time but I don't see it happening.
