The upcoming 1.0.5 patch for Diablo 3 is still a few weeks away, but Blizzard is already offering a sneak peek at some of the incoming changes, including a few features that will bring back memories of the previous game in the series.

In a post on the official game blog, Blizzard said it is creating a new event called the Infernal Machine, which "will allow level-60 players to battle "uber" versions of some of Sanctuary’s most nefarious bosses. While the rewards for defeating these bosses will be great, some assembly is required." Diablo 2 players may remember the Pandemonium Event in patch 1.11 for Lord of Destruction. The Battle.net-only event offered access to an "Uber Tristram" after players completed several pre-quests.

Also coming in the patch is a new system that allows players a way to make monsters more challenging. Remember the old "/players 8" command in D2? It works along the same lines.

Blizzard expects to release more details on each as the patch gets closer to release.

People still play Diablo 3? Sorry Blizz, a majority of us will be over at Torchlight where they don't string people around waiting for PvP almost a year after the launch. Simply ridiculous.

PvP is/was a staple for folks in D3? that's news to me. I'm sure you'll enjoy feverishly chasing the OP flavor of the moment in TL2 though, enjoy!!!!

I just wanted a game that was design-focused on the gameplay, not on the economy. I wanted a game that wasn't redesigned on-the-fly because of easily forseeable implications of botters/hackers/no-lifers.

Are you serious? Torchlight made an entire game without pvp, telling you to wait for the sequel.

people seem so butthurt that the game is ONLY worth playing for a month or so.

so it doesn't have infinite replayability of flukes like D2 or TF2. it isn't the last game you will ever have to buy, but so what? D3 is what it is, and is more than worth buying compared to most other AAA titles these days.

unrealistic expectations. if you are buying torchlight 2 to be better then you are setting yourself up for a disappointment.

Rounding four months up to "almost a year" is kind of weird.

lol, yes, hundreds of thousands of people still play. oh you and your 12 internet friends gave it up? that must mean all 12 million unique players quit, too

I didn't know anybody really cared about PvP. If Blizzard had focused their time on getting that out faster instead of fixing the other problems with the game, a lot more people than you would be pitching a fit.

Almost a year? Are you high? The game came out 4 months ago.

That's practically a year, if you round to the nearest non-zero integer.

Uh no. Also who the fuck would round with something like that?

You're rounding too. Who's to say that your rounding is acceptable and mine isn't? Why don't we get more accurate, then? Say Diablo 3 was released about 182,549 minutes ago. Or roughly 1,0952,000 seconds ago.

That's a lot of seconds! Practically forever ago!

sounds pretty awesome to me. any new events or content at this point will be a breath of fresh air. you can only farm so much before the game is stale, and there are only so many useful builds to tinker with (that don't require 500 million gold).

Yea, it should breath some new life in to Act 1, that's for sure. Pretty sick of Act 2 and starting to get sick of Act 3.

I respecced and geared for double whirlwind but I can't do act 3 with it yet, so I'm back to act 1 shenanigans. I might go back to my old gear just to get some different scenery, but Diablo owned my face when I tried before.

Why don't have a never ending dungeon like Torchlight has, for paragon levels its just Act 3 over and over and over.
Id like to see a never ending dungeon and at the end of each level there is a random Mob boss, it just has to have alot more HP and have 2 or 3 spells from all the classes in the game.

I think they'll definitely do something along these lines sooner or later. Maybe 1.2, but it could be an expansion thing.

yeah it seems obvious to have an endless dungeon or a survival mode (waves of enemies or whatever). Diablo is known for randomly generated content so a never-ending randomly generated dungeon would be the tits. Every 10 levels you get some epic loot, it becomes increasingly harder, etc.

I quit and sold all my gear for $120.
I would only rejoin if I felt I could have a better chance of finding my own gear, and not just buying it.
If uber bosses dropped uber gear, that might entice me, but knowing Bl$$ard, probably not.

Bets this patch will land JUST around the 20th!
