Developer Ambient Studios, launched in 2011 by former Media Molecule veterans, has been forced to close down, the company has announced. It's upcoming game Death Inc. failed to meet a Kickstarter goal earlier this month.
Death Inc. may have failed its crowdfunding attempt, but developer Ambient Studios hasn't given up. It's continued making the game and today launched an alphafunding program, letting you pre-order the Pikmin-y, Dungeon Keeper-ish, soul-harvesting RTS for $10 and score instant access to development builds.
Killing people: it's what video games are about. Usually you're just some low-grade, supposedly-admirable sociopath, but Ambient Studios' real-time strategy Death Inc. puts you in the grand robes of a freelance reaper, Grim T. Livingstone, to help spread the plague. To support its crowdfunding campaign, the developer founded by Media Molecule veterans today released a short demo, letting you try spreading your undead horde across merrye olde Englande.
Indie developer Ambient Games has announced Death Inc, a strategy title that has you as a reaper overseeing the overflow death traffic from the bubonic plague. A Kickstarter to fund the project will begin in February.
