I'd be all over these if they would allow landscape mode and if they could optimize the game without the frame rate drop. The reviews for VIII kept me from buying it.

Also the $20 price that doesn't have the option to download the voice track. I'd be okay with $15 and a $5 option to download the voices if it would load to SD. That's all technically possible.

How could a, what, 25 year old game like DQ2 have framerate drops?

Easy. They are basically using a kind of emulator vs native code.

Just checked and Dragon Quest I was on the IOS store. Snapped that shit up, so far it's great. I'll have to give II a look when I finish this one up. The graphics have been given an upgrade along with the music (which kind of bummed me out), and right off the bat I saw she-slimes mixed in with regular slimes, so it looks like they added some things here and there. The interface has been simplified and optimized for mobile devices though, so it handles great so far.

How odd. I just discovered that there was a DQ1 port last night and was disappointed that DQ2 & 3 weren't available.
