BioShock 2 'Narrative-Driven' DLC 'Minerva's Den' Announced

BioShock 2 is finally set to receive a dose of "narrative-driven" downloadable content when the 'Minerva's Den' DLC arrives this fall, publisher 2K Games announced today.

Minvera's Den is described as a "a self-contained narrative experience" starring "an all-new character," venturing into the "never-before-seen" Rapture Central Computing district to help Brigid Tenenbaum "uncover the dark secrets hidden in its founder's past."

The DLC will also bring "new high-tech weaponry and a devastating new Plasmid," upgraded splicers and security bots plus "a never-before-seen type of Big Daddy."

"Minerva's Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they're looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture," said 2K president Christoph Hartmann in the announcement. "The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva's Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga."

BioShock 2's previous DLC offerings have focused almost exclusively on its multiplayer, with the exception of the Protector Trials pack released on consoles this week. The Trials are "coming out soon" on PC, 2K says, but there's "no release date yet."

Minvera's Den is scheduled for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
