Shack PSA: Champions Online Free to Play This Weekend

Cryptic's superhero MMO Champions Online will be opened to the public this weekend, with the company allowing anyone to create a free account and log on to enjoy the new Blood Moon Halloween event.

The promotion will run Friday through Sunday. Those interested can sign up for an account at the official site.

    Wow a free event this soon after the game comes out? Not a good sign for this game.

      Agreed, but I'm not surprised. I played it during the open beta and quickly cancelled my order. The forums were riddled with people with high-end machines who were getting 5-10fps. The game itself was pretty boring to me, the combat was horribly lame (you earn power points as you auto-attack so you spend a lot of time standing there auto attacking). The world itself felt bland and wasn't even pretty to look at.

        Gotta agree, I wish I would have played the beta a bit more to have realized how boring it was. Just not the game for me. I really wish they could have designed the game a bit more like the PnP rules and left it open. :)
