Netflix Subscribers Surveyed on X360 Streaming

17
Online movie rental house Netflix has issued a survey to subscribers gauging interest in streaming movies via Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, Reuters reports.

Netflix would not say if the survey signaled any plans for a partnership with Microsoft to deliver streaming movie content to the console, but noted that it wanted to deliver content by as many means as possible.

Speculation of such a deal had previously ramped up at last month's Game Developer's Conference, with rumors of an announcement surfacing after the distribution of a similar survey a week before. Microsoft would not comment on the rumor, asking press to simply "stay tuned."

The incorporation of Netflix into Microsoft's movie download service would fit the company's claims that digital downloads, rather than disc-based media, are the future of multimedia content for gaming consoles.

This would be such an insta-buy for me. Pay Netflix to download and watch X amount of movies on my 360? Yes please.

I hope it's just something they offer to regular subscribers, much like all the free online movies they already do.

Yeah, at most I'd probably pay maybe $30 for the disc (or marketplace download) for the netflix streaming software on the 360.

Only if it's fast and not shitty.

If I could just use my existing Netflix account to steam videos to my Xbox... oh man... I'd be a very happy person. I would do that the second it was available.

If it would be another viewer option for their current streaming service I would be very happy. I'm however skeptical of it being free as the incentive for MS to put that in Live would be nil if they weren't getting a cut. However if Netflix foots the bill for the sake of competition then woot!
