Replay Couch 3: Mechachicken

This week, giant killer Crysis chickens get nuked. Oh yeah!

Welcome to the Replay Couch, where we kick back and watch the best, and worst, of recorded video game history. Each week we'll be offering up a compilation of compelling captures from the world of insane speed-runs, chance kills, competitive moments, and hilarious happenings from the past and present.

Be sure to check out last week's edition for more crazy digital stunts and creative stupidity. And now, on with the show.

Video of the Week: Crysis vs. Mechachicken ( link to this video)
If you haven't fired up the Sandbox 2 editor included with the Crysis demo, what are you waiting for? FinalFrog's montage of nuke-on-chicken devastation can be replicated by adding a few items to the stock demo map and playing within the editor (control-G). You'll find the nuclear-equipped tanks within the Archetype Entity/Vehicles directory, and the hand-held TAC launcher in the standard Entity/weapons folder. Giant chickens sold separately.

Rocket Poltergeist ( link to this video)
This week's choicest Halo 3 clip comes from sssViPeRsss, who bore witness to a real-life rocket possession. Is it physics, or spirits from beyond? I know what Dan Aykroyd would say, but watch and judge for yourselves.

Grenade: The Reckoning ( link to this video)
In a similar act of ghostly intervention, CptSchrute's errant grenade toss crosses streams with fate. The resultant reversal of particle flow creates an alternate reality, where some other guy gets his face exploded.

This Skate video comes from KTS over at the awesome Goonskate website. Watch in horror as a security guard, clearly some kind of demonic servant of evil, ravages our poor skater. Dude, not sweet.

Classic Trailer of the Week: Diablo ( link to this video)
Sure, this next clip wasn't exactly generated by some guy in his basement, but it is technically a replay. Hopefully I'm not the only one who digs on old game trailers. This one is the perfect anti-Peggle, a dialogue-less gem from Blizzard's early days, which debuted on the WarCraft II CD.

Speed Run: Fallout ( link to this video)
Here's an impressive video, vault dwellers: the original Fallout completed in just 9 minutes and 19 seconds. Of course there's a bit of an exploit going on here to avoid combat most of the time, but it's nothing we'd call "illegal."

Competitive Arena: Moon vs. Sky ( link to this video)
No, it's not some strange apocalyptic battle of the heavens--it's just a couple of insanely talented Warcraft 3 geeks. Horde micromanagement guru Moon cycles his near-dead archers into a Zeppelin, thus protecting them from attack, and rendering the transport itself invincible for the period of loading. This allows him to perfectly time single-archer shots against Sky's powerful Archmage, slowly wearing him down.

Impossible Video of the Week: Jin8 Plays Tetris ( link to this video)
Some humans have skills, and some skilled Tetris players aren't human. This is an example of the latter, a clip of famed block-arranger Jin8 going to work on Akira's Tetris: The Grand Master 3. Don't miss the end, when the blocks vanish into nothingness. Spooky.

Cake Earner of the Week: FPtje Plays Piano ( link to this video)
Portal spoilers ahead!

Consider yourself warned. I'm being so sincere right now.

Some people play piano on their computers, but FPTje plays piano inside his computer. Witness as he manipulates Freeman's digits in order to tickle his Garry's Mod-derived ivories, all to a now-famous tune.
