The Sims Go Hollywood

Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has inked a deal with Electronic Arts to produce a live-action movie based off EA's popular The Sims series (pictured left). The script will be written by Brian Lynch, who recently wrote and directed Big Helium Dog and is also credited as a co-writer on Scary Movie 3. Norbit producer John Davis has been tasked with the project, with EA's The Sims Division studio vice president Rod Humble participating as well.

No story details were disclosed, leaving it unclear how the film will be able to recreate the appeal of The Sims' open-ended freedom within the confines of a non-interactive medium.

"'The Sims' has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it," noted Humble. "Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."

I could actually see it maybe being funny if done from the standpoint of these intelligent sims being prodded and manipulated by this unseen external power.

Bob: well Joe last night I was minding my own business and then I felt something strange up muh was...A HAND!

Joe: like your wife's hand Bob?

Bob: no...IT WAS THE HAND OF GOD...and he's a fucking PERV MAN!!! He wants my ass...and now he's angry with me because I wouldn't let him have my wife's got the AIDS now and my kids died last night bleeding first from their eyes and other orifaces...then eventually from their pores...and a serial killer killed all my friends.

Joe: but I thought I was your friend Bob

Bob: no Joe, your a always have been...I don't want to see anyone else I thought I'd hang around you.

Joe: but doesn't that sort mean we'll eventually become friends?

Joes then bursts into flames and rapes Bob with his fiery cock. Roll credits.
