New at GameSpot today is this Sins of a Solar Empire Q&A. Producer Blair Fraser is asked about gameplay, the three factions, the game's backstory, the bounty system, system specs and multiplayer plans.

      Anything like Homeworld (but hopefully better) makes me tingly.

        I don't imagine that the player has a large role in determining combat outcomes.

        There would probably be way too many things for a player to keep track of then, if he had to manage diplomacy, research, expansion and combat (like homeworld's combat)

          Depends. You can automate a lot of the combat, manage it from the "empire view" -- which is just a group of icons on the left side of the screen that shows all of your ships in orbit around a planet, or go right into combat and choose individual special abilities to use, etc. You can micromanage as much as you want.
