  Apparently in my neighborhood Comcast recently took over the cable service from Adelphia, and for weeks the Internet has been going out for a few minutes at a time every hour or two.

    Heh you live right up the street from me (I'm in Delray) and our internet has been complete shit too. Adelphia sucks :( We did just get a speed bump though on our line from Comcast.

      Greetings, fellow West-Palm-and-surrounding-areas person.
      
      Adelphia had its issues, but outages were pretty infrequent and they rarely interfered with my WoW addiction. I can't say the same for Comcast!

  yeah that's probably Comcast's new "SpeedBoost" feature where the first 25 megs of an upload or download are uncapped. does that speed actually sustain over a period of time?

  RR just switched to Comcast and my usenet speed SUCKS now.
  
  I went from 600k/s to 200k/s max and I constantly loose connection or it sits at 50-75k/s.
  
  it sucks...
  
  BUT the retention has SKYROCKETED from 24-36 hours to now 2-3 WEEKS.
  
  i think I prefer the higher speed
