America's Army Goes UE3

7

We received a press release announcing that the U.S. Army is licensing Unreal Engine 3 for America's Army. According to the PR, the move from the Unreal Engine 2 codebase will start in the next few months. Also mentioned: "Upcoming versions of the game include America's Army: Special Forces Overmatch, which will release this fall; and America's Army: Stryker-Overmatch to be released this winter".

Whoa, I wonder how they're going to use this engine to help out the game?

Hopefully extensively. America's Army doesn't get nearly enough love in my opinion.

That's because the game is utterly dull.

Agreed. And all the shit you have to go through from starting the game for the first time to shooting at people with the gear you would like to have is just complete frustration.

It was somewhat satisfying qualifying for the sniper in the training, but there are too many modes and restrictions in the actual online aspect.

Atleast it's a free UE3 game. Well not really since I'll be paying for it with my parents' tax dollars. I guess I'll milk the army for what it's worth.

I stopped playing after they made a ton of revisions, a lot of them dealing with regdoll and crap like that. They are focusing too much on the small details and no enough on the actual bugs in the game. AA was truly great, but then it died.
