Word?

Well I'd say that 3600 posts on last night's ER is about enough - time for someone to update here on Sunday.

So it seems tomorrow is the unveiling of all of the Half Life 2 previews. I'd imagine it's going to be 200 websites all with the same ten screenshots. I've always loved previews, especially the ones where the sites know the games they're previewing are bad. Here are a few warning signs:

- "If things change in the coming months, this could be a promising title"
- "The action in the game is very good, however the camera has issues they need to hash out."
- "The AI in this game is broken, but the developer assures us it will be better by release"

Basically, these sites will try to put positive spins on the games, when historically you'll read an actual review and they'll lambaste the game for the exact same problems that they sugarcoated in the preview. Why? So they get more from the publishers? Who knows.

I am really doubting, of course, that Half Life 2 will suffer from the kinds of comments above, as everyone trusts that Valve will be putting out a highly polished game. I just felt like going on a rant.

movie - "Dooey, did you grab my ass?" "Sir, from where I'm standing it would be a physical impossibility."
