Evening Reading

Yeah um.. late late night goofing with settings. We're now running new wait time prediction code on Fileshack that will allegedly be more accurate. It still needs some tweaking but there shouldnt be any more gross miscalculations anymore. They are estimated a bit higher right now than they really are, but with a bit more fiddling it should be reasonably close until things are replaced with our more final solution. Ok, here's the on time ER:

- Fight the power! Fight MS!
- Dont uncap your modem for extra bandwidt, you might get shot. Thanks /.
- Retail technology future
- America has cool malls
- Technology and future elections

Lastly, we've had a long standing policy of not covering warez/alpha leaks of games here unless publicly addressed by a publisher or developer, and ourselves and many other continued to stand by this policy through many major game releases. However it appears that all bets are off when it comes to a game like DOOM3. To me it's a bit strange that so many websites changed their policies for this while over the years there have been so many other major titles leaked that nobody mentioned and gave a second thought to not covering. I suppose this is just indicative of the mystique that DOOM still carries. My apologies for the mixed signals that things outside of our control such as the [H] headlines here were carrying. Really didnt expect hardware pages to be carrying something like that. Doh.

At any rate, John Carmack himself has addressed the situation, in this event it's allowable to discuss the topic in general terms. However anyone asking for or giving out information on how to obtain the illegally leaked alpha will be nuked. Also links to screenshots, how to make the alpha work, and stuff like that etc will also be nuked. This page is not an illegal alpha support group. Also, clever insinuations and hints will also be nuked in recognition of how clever you are.

Braindead... you DO realize that Steve or Marteen doesn't like to do ER on a Sunday night, don't you?

I think there's been several Sunday nights where ER didn't even show up...

From what I understand about how the server is set up, one person alone holding down the F5 key in IE can't really cause any real kind of server spike...

        Right?
