Gabe Newell - I just canÂ’t give dates. I can guarantee quality. We try to build games that are great but we are completely incompetent at actually guessing when we are going to ship anything.

  he'd be singing a different tune if half life had only sold well during the first year.
  What he really means to say is, "We're pulling in so much cash milking our ONE GAME that we don't have to abide by the rules that other developers have to live by. So we're going to switch engines a couple of times and then sit around thinking how theres no way in hell our next game is going to match the success of Half-Life."
