More on EGO

Wow. Real news! A german mag, gamestar.de posted a 3 page preview of Project EGO (the RPG using the B&W engine.) - the guys at LionGames translated a bit and I'm just gonna tease you with the juicy bits from that translation:
As the first RPG ever, Project Ego will let you take control of a hero from his youth (17 years) up to his high ages (70 years and more...). During his live he's getting more and more experienced and he'll also change his look. Adventurers for example, who hang around outside, get a darker skin -- brutal heros are developing muscles. But Ego will take these aspects to a new dimension -- hair will change color, you get folds when you become older and you can even get bold. Last one is for the intelligent heros. (ed - I assume they mean bald, like Picard.)

The plot: You want to become a real hero, THE hero to be precise, a legend. Molyneux currently thinks about rebuilding the whole British Empire of the 6th century for the game-world. To gather peoples attention you'll have to kill monsters, deliver stuff and complete quests. During the years, your actions will be known across the whole land and you're something like a Rock-Star for this age.

...

Ego won't have pre-scripted character actions like Baldurs Gate 2, people will behave dynamically. The whole Fantasy-world will be simulated, while day and night cycles will be the easiest thing to do. Everything can be picked up and used.

It's not unlikely, that you develop a personal relation to a girl (or boy if you play a female hero). And in case you make some little heros, you'll be able to watch them grow up.

...

Sounds good. Sounds REAL good! These are still ideas though, lets hope they can make them reality. (And lets hope they don't pull an Ultima9 on us.)

Also note that EGO is an x-box title! (And the crowd goes "aaawwww!")... but they think a pc-port is very likely, and technically easy to do.

Other EGO reports (yanked from LionGames): msxbox.com, xbox.ign.com, Computer and Videogames, TheGia, pcgames.de, gamestar.de (1, 2), Gamespot, FGN Online

Update: Astonish made a rather large post on the comments system that clarified a few things about Project EGO. To summarize - EGO is made by a company called Big Blue Box, and has been under development for a year now, independant from Peter Molyneux. And it apparantly does not use the Black & White engine - but a new engine written from scratch. (But, the stubborn boy in me says that the shots look a lot like the B&W engine.) People interested in EGO should read his post.
