The Doom 2 Super Shotgun is in Borderlands 3

It's not technically in the game, but the gun that IS in Borderlands 3 is a definite reference to Doom 2's shotgun at the very least.

What happens when you open this particular Golden Chest in Borderlands 3? You find a weapon that looks kinda, sorta like one from Doom 2, but isn't actually from Doom 2. It sure looks like it could be, though, in another life.

This "unboxing video," so to speak, shows off what happens when you open the Golden Chest in Borderlands 3, as this person has done. The gun, called Speedloadn' Hellwalker (without the extra "I," apparently) is manufactured by Jakobs and features the following flavor text: "So, my demons. Your time has come." It's also "highly effective vs. Flesh." It's the kind of powerful shotgun you'll love to start mowing down enemies with.

The video shows off a bit of what you can expect from the gun, and it's actually kind of unattractive in terms of design, but you can't argue how powerful it is nor how satisfying it probably is to unload on enemies. Even though the shotgun in the original Doom was better, this is still kinda cool. Thanks to Chatty member baconisgod for pointing out.

In the meantime, be sure to check out our hands-on Borderlands 3 preview:

"There will also be a place to store a lot of that stuff, as players will get a special hub location called Sanctuary 3. The new Sancutary is a space vessel, able to take players from Pandora to entirely new worlds. Beyond customizing their home base, players can purchase upgrades and even find loot they might have lost over the course of the game. Sanctuary 3 will also act as a home to numerous characters, including Sir Hammerlock, Marcus, and Claptrap.

As much as this is to do solo, the opportunity to work with a team will be available. But online co-op in Borderlands 3 will have a bit of a twist. Everything will be scaled to each individual player. That means that while one player may be at level 1 and see enemies suited to a bigger player, their level 20 online co-op parner will see enemies scaled at level 20. Loot will work the same way. The new loot instancing system will reward each player with their own set of loot, suited to their level. If none of that sounds like your cup of team, these options can be turned off in favor of the classic Borderlands experience."

You can check out the full game when it drops on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on September 13.
