Interested in trying out Pokemon Quest, but don't have a Switch? You no longer need one when it comes to enjoying the latest Pokemon title. It's available for both iOS and Android devices starting today, and you can download it for free. It's free to start, like many mobile games are, and it's relatively free of most freemium game trappings.

Pokemon Quest is a relatively streamlined adventure when compared to other Pokemon titles, however, with a lack of a main "campaign" to defeat the Elite Four, no way to capture Pokemon like you'd normally be able to, and no regular Pokemon trainers to face off against. Instead, you explore the world of Tumblecube Island with strange, boxy Pokemon that you befriend along the way. You'll cook different items attract Pokemon and bring them to your base camp, then invite them along with you for your various expeditions, all to be used in combat against others with a touch-based battle system.

So it's a lot different than the regular Pokemon games you may be used to, but it's still extremely addictive, especially if you enjoy collecting items and Pokemon, a large focus of the game. You'll be limited as to how much you can play at once thanks to the energy meter that forces you to wait a period of time before you can come back to it. Still, it's a fun little adventure that's worth trying out, especially since you can take it everywhere with you in your pocket now, even if you don't have a Switch.
