That being said, the new ads are bullshit. Moreover, nuking threads about the ads is even worse. geedeck asked me to direct my questions to staff instead of "randomly" posting about it here. When did discussing Shack policy become random, let alone nukable? The whole point of my question earlier was to see if anyone else here felt the same way. I don't want some mod's response repeating what GameFly's offical line. I want to see what posters think. Maybe I'm overreacting but I was one of the people that scoffed at the notion that Steve's sale of the Shack would change anything here. Maybe I was wrong.

People here can post stuff like copyrighted material, questionable under age porn, ask about serious medical / vet advice, retarded and obvious troll stories, gay and race bashing, and all sorts of questionable shit; yet the discussion about a perfectly legal and practically common practice gets nuked / banned. Why? there is simply no balance to the moderation rules in this regard.
Don't get me wrong though, the mods have an insane amount of shit to look at every day - voluntarily - and they do a good job for the most part; for that, I respect them immensely.
However, regarding the ad-blocker issue there are number of things that make that issue absolutely retarded:
1. People who install ad blockers rarely if ever click on ads before installing such software anyways.
2. Any reasonable website tracks visitors on server side (so if you're selling by impressions an ad blocker makes no difference).
3. A user is likely to go elsewhere for their information if the ads on the site are too intrusive (and there is no shortage of game news sites).
4. The shack was serving up viruses in their ads a few weeks ago and that shit is just unacceptable period.
