This second one is what I miss most about EQ. Every regular mob in WoW behaves exactly the same, with small exceptions for humans running away and the rare ones that explode or something on death. But EQ had monsters with very subtle variations that changed the angle of approach. Some ran faster, some aggro'd on sight, others on sound, others on magic usage. Some could see you through the dark. Some mobs were only alive at night, and they were generally stronger than their daytime counterparts.
So much subtle varation, and no MMO besides FFXI has done anything like it since.
