Konami hiring for next 'Metal Gear' game

Looks like Konami is moving on, with or without Hideo Kojima.

14

It's time for the latest chapter in the ongoing saga of "As the Kojima Turns." Last time, Hideo Kojima had finally escaped Konami by sneaking out under a cardboard box before emerging as the head of an independently-owned Kojima Productions. Kojima is now working with Sony, but where does that leave Snake? Well, Konami may be putting all its energy in pachinko machines these days, but that doesn't mean it's abandoning Metal Gear, even if the original creator is long gone.

GamesRadar has observed that Konami is currently hiring for an unrevealed Metal Gear project. The job description is calling for "boundless imagination" and "experience in high-end game development."

There are a few takeaways from this latest turn. First off, Konami has previously stated that there will be more Metal Gear games moving forward, but this is the first actual move to match these bold claims. Secondly, Konami seems to be moving towards a "Metal Gear" game, but the omission of the word "Solid" should not be overlooked, since it could be the publisher moving away from Snake and towards a different element of the Metal Gear universe. Or it could just be a mobile game.

Regardless, Shacknews has reached out to Konami and we will offer any updates as they arise.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Man this just seems so fucked up :( they let go Kojima and do all that back handed shit and now they are making a new Metal Gear game? Sounds like the biggest F U in history.

Well good luck with that, I am sure it is a mobile game though.

Could they have such massive balls that they want to show Kojima they don't need him for a Metal Gear game? Imagine if this is another Metal Gear game like a full out console game... this is going to be interesting. I seriously doubt it though,

Man if they actually do another Metal Gear aka full game like V man they are going to be hard core criticised if not boycotted all together.

I wish I could go into the future and see what will be the out come.

      Crazy.

Mostly likely really old Japanese dudes (that should have retired) decided the best way to keep up with the times was to go scorched earth with pretty much the only consistent studio that appealed to western audiences they had.

If by 'worked on' you mean 'made worse' then yeah I think so. They have been making it harder and harder to play the game without having to engage in the MP in order to encourage people to buy their in game currency micro-transactions from what I understand.

I made it to the end of chapter 1 before most of the changes started so I'm just going by what I have heard on podcasts, etc.

I beat the game basically without participating in the online stuff. I did "Mosquito's Legacy" events which is technically online but instead of invading a real person's FOB it's more or less a story mission. No retaliation or anything like that. I haven't spent any real money beyond the initial cost of the game and I've finished all the mother base platforms, built maybe half of the online platforms on the first FOB you get for free, and developed a butt load of weapons, items, and armor.

      or some mobile/video poker crap.
      either way..
itll be lower budget than a Kojima game, im sure. (which doesnt mean itll be a bad game)

im glad Kojima left Konami. He's got that Sony money now.
