Nintendo has returned to the world of Metroid Prime with a new side story called Metroid Prime: Federation Force. The game will feature four-player co-op.

Furthermore, that Blast Ball game from Sunday's Nintendo World Championships? That appears to be part of Metroid Prime: Federation Force.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

This is not the new Metroid game I wanted. :(

But Blast Ball looks like it's basically Q-Pong in the Metroid Prime universe, and I'm okay with that.

We'll have to see what they do with the rest of the game.

Any game where "4-player coop" is a thing is not the Metroid game I wanted. Metroid is about solo exploration of a lonely world in which you overcome obstacles and unlock the path to victory. Friends are not part of the equation.

I would like to explore more of that universe, kinda wish they retroactively added it to the same mythos though (and put it on the Wii U)

So much this. Not every game need coop or multiplayer.

Haha, glad I'm not the only one who saw that as Q-Pong.

I wouldn't call it a Metroid game. More of a spin-off like Metroid Prime Hunters or Pinball.

It would be like calling Mario Party 10 a Mario game.

Well, that's disappointing. Talented developer, too, but FF isn't playing to any of the strengths of the series. :(

This is seriously what next level games has been working on? This looks terrible. What a complete disappointment. :(
