Update: Both listings have now been removed, but not before Twitter got the images it needed.

There's been plenty written about the Amiibo craze and how unprepared Nintendo has been to meet the demand. From the looks of a new report, however, the insanity regarding these collectibles has just begun.

A NeoGAF post has stumbled onto product certificate submissions on Nintendo's website for Gold and Silver Mario Amiibo figures. The Silver listing remains active, but the Gold one has since been removed. If true, it's a potential signal that Nintendo is going the extra mile to appeal to collectors. It's also a potential harbinger of further wailing and gnashing of teeth from folks that are having trouble finding even the basic line of figures.

Given the craze for these collectibles over recent months, there's a vested interest in verifying this particular rumor. Shacknews has reached out to Nintendo for confirmation and will issue any updates as they arrive.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
