Morning Discussion
I'm hugely enjoying AssBro so far. There's so much to see, do and stab that I haven't the foggiest how far in I am but I'm having a hoot. Yes, it's essentially a better version of Assassin's Creed 2 but it doesn't feel like a rehash. The new city, combat tweaks, mission variety and optional side objectives make it all sparkly and lemony-fresh. I'd recommend playing in Italian with English subtitles too, for that authentic Romagna flavour. Though mounted combat can shove right off.
I'm especially glad that only the silly and needless sci-fi layer has been featured so far, while the absurd and terrible sci-fi element introduced in Assassin's Creed 2 has yet to surface. I'm sure it will but this time, I'll be waiting with a team of trained face-stabbers.

Regarding the 'if you die you can't pick up your stuff' bit, he's previously mentioned that he wants something like that on harder difficulties. Personally I think that if you can get to your corpse at least SOME of the stuff should be on it -- it's not like all your possessions explode when you die after all.

Can't say I'd ever play that mode, especially since Creepers exist. I am however very interested in the mode he's mentioned before where your health drains gradually every couple of days. I certainly wouldn't want to always play this mode (would suck if you just felt like building shit with some monsters thrown in), but it would be really fun if you wanted to really get into the 'survivorman' aspect of the game. I mostly just want the wheat and soup to become more useful as right now it's way too easy just to go kill and cook pigs.

One thing I am looking forward to in Beta is more of a reason for having multiple servers for a community. Currently there isn't one, and the underwhelming attendance on some of the other servers attests to this. But when we can have a PvP server, a PvE server, and a Peaceful 'builders only' server, that'll be great.
As a side note, I recently re-watched Fellowship, and it's still a fucking great movie.

I don't think the creepers would force a reboot. If you've played SP you know how easy it is to stop them damaging your house.
Jacked-up economy, gigantic world files, and just plain overwhelming player opinion ('we want a fresh server') are my votes as to what will trigger a reset (in no particular order). -

ok so this is pretty odd, not sure if anybody else ran into it, or its a weird bug.
Lastnight I was playing away, taking my single player minecart ride another 4-5 stacks of track away from my main base, found a nice mountain out that way, so I figured it would be a good enough place to make a halfway point stopping base. Dig out a little room and set up a few chests/forges and then hear the creepy dungeon music, so go digging into walls looking for it. Finally find it, make it all safe nothing unusual there, but then I notice a tunnel leading off it with light at the end, so I wander down thinking its lava, and to my suprise its a bunch of torches. I DID NOT make these torches, no way I ever wandered out this far in this world, so I was pretty puzzled. I follow the path of torches and it leads to a random ass section of minecart track that goes down a big hill then stops infront of some lava. Now I know for sure no way I would have built this, as I would has atleast lead the minecart track back outside
So anybody else run into something like this, finding torches and minecart track out in your world, you are 100% sure you didnt place?
.... WTF?! -

my take on the block lag bug:
I would guess that MP is done by your client sending your 3 position coordinates and 2 angle bearings to the server, along with mouse click/release events. So when you mine stuff, the server can figure out what block you're looking at and knows how long you held down the dig button and figures out if you dug long enough to mine out that block.
It does seem though (no idea how) that like when in vehicles your angle bearing is horribly lagged. If you mine in a straight line without turning in any way, you rarely get a repop block. Also, if you mine without turning while moving, that also works OK. Perhaps the calculation to tell what block you're looking at is only done like once a second or on the event of mining out a block.
Pretty hard to tell since I think it might still be possible to get some variance in connection latency which causes your client to show a block mined out before the server thinks it has (this is including the offset times). -
