by Brian Leahy, Oct 11, 2010 5:00pm PDTUnfortunately, I've been away from StarCraft II for far too long and now I've lost all of my skills. At some point, I'll just have to give it another go, bomb my ladder rank, and work my way back up.
I'm super-excited for GSL 2, which is currently finishing up its offline qualifiers and should begin streamed matches in a little over a week. Some StarCraft: Brood War pros have begun making the switch to SC2, including BoxeR--the most famous SC:BW pro--and NaDa. Non-Korean players Greg "IdrA" Fields and Dario "TLO" Wunsch, both of whom played in GSL1, have qualified for GSL2.
The quality of games should get better and better as the GSL seasons continue.

At this point my mine is 16 lanes wide and has proved to be insanely productive so far. In a single day I came out with over 150 iron, 15 diamond, 30 gold, and a ridiculous 250 redstone. That's not counting all the coal and cobble I recovered which led to my second project of the day:
Touching up and enhancing the wall around my region. As it stands now, however, it's still kind of disjointed as you can see on the birds eye renders. My plan is to amass a ridiculous amount of cobble from my branch mines then convert it into a giant more organized wall, more akin to what James is up to south of me although not quite on the same scale.
My other plan, while working on my branch mine, is to convert a large portion of it into a huge underground forrest. This will give me access to a huge and safe supply of wood resource which will come in handy once monsters with damage go live in multiplayer. Likewise, I plan on setting up a greenhouse similar to how X set up his in his youtube videos, so that I can set up a safe wheat supply as well in the future if needed.
Beyond the forrest and greenhouse, it's full on branch mining and later wall construction for me through this month so that I'm well stocked and prepared when all hell breaks loose(literally) :D
