Shacknews has been around for almost twenty-two years. In that time we have covered gaming news, events, and technology with a high standard of journalistic integrity. We care about our readers and our community, and today was a gut punch as Facebook removed hundreds of our posts and is now preventing our feed from being shared to our followers' timelines. Shacknews articles have been labeled spam by Facebook's algorithm.
Facebook recently implemented a new algorithm to prevent spammers and bots from sharing fake news articles. Here is Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's post about this terrible idea.
We are unable to even see our Published Posts History.
One reader, Scott Snider, pointed out that "I shared 2 shacknews posts and got told they were spam and had been removed. I had to go in and say it's not spam so now they are reviewing my posts to see if they violate facebook policies.... wtf"
We would like to ask our readers on Facebook to please attempt to do the same. Please share our articles and dispute Facebook's spam claims. Do it for Shacknews. We also ask our readers to shift their focus to our Shacknews Twitter account and Shacknews Google Plus page as those companies still allow us to share gaming news with the world. Loyal Shackers will always be able to see our articles in the Shacknews Chatty forum.

Hearing reports of this from other major news sites at my work. The common factor appears to be stories automatically posted by Dlvr.It.
This same thing happened once years ago at the newspaper where I worked. Took a little bit, but Facebook and Dlvr.it worked it out, and the old posts got reinstated.

Because that's his shtick. He baits people in to worthless arguments with inflammatory and antagonistic comments then goes running to the mods/owner when someone posts something that he doesn't like.
The mods are only going to save you from yourself so many times before they get tired of your shit. You can either learn from these problems and adapt, or just keep fucking that chicken because you're miserable and want to take it out on others.

I don't dislike you, but i do think you shouldn't always pick fights. I also don't think asif is being a bully, even if may be hurtful to see what he says. He's allowed to not like you, and i probably wouldn't like you either if i were in his position. Wouldn't take it super personally though

I don't think he is being a bully either. I think this is how he responds to criticism. That's fine everyone has their way, but when you have power over a website like this...this way tends to have more ramifications. I didn’t take it the same way Wisp did, though I do appreciate someone else noticing.
TMWTB has done a lot of great things for this site and will continue to do them. But, if we can't actually criticize the editorial direction in the comments, then it really does make sense why Chatty and the front page are separate. We have every incentive to stay away for fear of disagreeing with the owner's stance. It is kinda sad that there is a poster saying they were reporting front page news rather than commenting on it and others telling me to not "bite the hand that feeds" us. I didn't really think we had reached that level.-

What's with the hate train? Even if being argumentative (deliberately or not) is grounds for ostracism (I should hope not), I haven't seen any extremely obnoxious behaviour from anyone lately.

Well this place has become a liberal echo chamber over the last ten years or so. A lot of people got run off by the mods during geedeck's time of "eliminate porn" and other distastefull things that we don't agree with.
There is a herd mentality around here and people have seemingly lost critical thinking skills and you are either lumped in with group A or group B. No middle ground
Don't really like where its going but I think its a reflection of society.

I don't think the place has changed much. It's always been above internet gaming average in maturity and intelligence. And i mostly just remember this place as a nerdy libertarian place, if not "liberal". Since Donald has been a viable candidate, it's an easy target for a mature, intelligent gaming audience. I don't think it has a ton to do with the moderation. I don't think it's political, though moderating against stupidity and offensiveness may have the side effect of creating a "liberal echo chamber" . But it's always been like that
