Fallout 1 and 2 free to start GOG winter sale

Fallout and Fallout 2 are widely regarded as two of the finest RPGs around, which is probably because they're great. If you haven't played them, or fancy returning once again, you can now snag both for free at GOG, as the digital distributor has kicked off its winter sale by offering them as presents. The combat-oriented Fallout Tactics is free too, even if it is remembered less fondly.

GOG introduces 30-day refunds for wonky games

GOG introduces 30-day refunds for wonky games

As delightful as digital distribution is, you're less likely to get your money back if a game's wonky than you would be with a physical disc. That old DRM-free rogue GOG has upped its customer-friendly practices with a new money-back guarantee, letting customers get a refund within 30 days of buying a game if they can't get it to run properly.

GOG adds free Bullfrog expansions

GOG adds free Bullfrog expansions

It was delightful enough that GOG managed to drag some of the beloved Bullfrog's classic games out of mothballs and make them available again, but now it's dug up expansion packs too. And GOG being the happy friendly folks that they are, they've added them for free. The good news, in short: Dungeon Keeper and Syndicate are now even better.

Leisure Suit Larry bundle hits GOG

Leisure Suit Larry bundle hits GOG

Why do you like Leisure Suit Larry? I understand why you did, back in the day, but why do you continue to like it? Why did you buy enough of them for too many sequels to be made, let alone a spin-off starring Larry's nephew and a sequel to that, why have you backed a Kickstarter for a remake of the first game, and then voted to get that on Steam? And why are you excited that GOG today re-released a bundle of vintage Larry games? You, yes you, you personally, you.

Silent Storm Gold blasts into GOG

Silent Storm Gold blasts into GOG

In its mostly successful ongoing mission to re-release forgotten classics, GOG has unearthed a highly destructive find. Nival's Silent Storm Gold is available now, letting you wreck and ruin destructible environments across World War II in turn-based tactical tomfoolery from 2003.

Like those X-COM and Jagged Alliance thing, Silent Storm is about gearing your squad up and stopping a vile ploy through turn-based tactical combat. In this case, it's a shadowy organization manipulating both the Allies and Axis, giving them fancy technology like power armor.

Botanicula pre-orders get goodies in apology

Botanicula starring in a 'pay what you want' Humble Bundle on the very day it launched certainly was an unexpected treat for most of us, but less so for those who pre-ordered the adorable adventure game. To make amends, developer Amanita Design has whipped together an apology package for those who pre-ordered, with treats including Machinarium.
