Homefront PC Port Being Handled by Digital Extremes; Dedicated Servers Promised

THQ has announced that PC version of its upcoming shooter Homefront will be ported by Digital Extremes (Dark Sector, BioShock 2 multiplayer), while primary developer Kaos Studios focuses on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

For the PC version, THQ is promising "dedicated servers and enjoy additional community features including clan support," which according to THQ executive producer Frank De Lise, "are becoming increasingly rare" and that "the core PC first-person-shooter fan will really appreciate these features." Gran Turismo 5 Gets Course Creation and Kart Racing

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi isn't ever going to be satisfied with the amount of content in Gran Turismo 5. The latest example of his insatiable desire to add more to the game comes with word that Gran Turismo 5 will be getting a course creation mode and kart racing.

According to Kotaku, the course creator "lets you build a custom racetrack based on a set of parameters. Players can select a theme, choose the number of sections and course type (one way or loop), weather, time of day and length." Read more »

Chahi's 'Project Dust' Renamed 'From Dust,' Shown off in Tech Demo Trailer

'Another World' creator Eric Chahi's "spirutal heir to Populous" known only as Project Dust has received its official name at Gamescom 2010--the grim title of From Dust.

The sombre tone continues in a new trailer showing off its impressive dynamic world simulation technology. "We want to create a universe that reflects the power of nature, the relative insignificance of mankind and the brevity of his lifespan," the narrator explains as tribes face perils of earth, fire and water. Star Wars: The Old Republic Trailer Shows Space Combat

The 'tunnel shooter' space combat in BioWare's MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic is given its grand unveiling in a new trailer released to celebrate Gamescom 2010.

Spaceships will also serve as player housing of sorts, letting you and your chums stroll around your vessel, though BioWare has yet to reveal exactly how it will all work. Read more »

Torchlight 2 Co-op Shown in First Trailer

Report: Portal 2 Launches February 9, 2011

Grab your favorite dessert bib because, according to Game Informer, Portal 2 has a release date.

Today the magazine--which first revealed the title in a cover story--reported that Portal 2 would hit stores on February 9, 2011. The confirmation, the report says, comes from Valve at Gamescom 2010. We've also reached out the Valve to confirm that the date is accurate. Read more »

Diablo 3 Crafting and Artisans Revealed

Adventurers in Diablo 3 will be followed by a caravan of artisans offering crafting services, developer Blizzard revealed at Gamescom 2010.

A blacksmith, mystic and jeweller will be discovered during the action RPG's main quest and essentially take over the crafting, socketing and combining duties of Diablo II's Horadric Cube. In true Diablo style, most items they create will have some random properties. Read more »

160GB and 320GB PlayStation 3 Models Unveiled

Two new PlayStation 3 models packing 160GB and 320GB hard drives will arrive in September, Sony has announced at Gamescom 2010.

The 160GB model is already shipping to retailers and will replace Sony's current 120GB model at the same price of $299.99. Read more »

Crysis 2 Gets Two Special Editions, Multiplayer Beta for Xbox 360

At Gamescom 2010, publisher Electronic Arts announced two special editions for the 2011 release of Crysis 2: the Limited Edition and the Nano Edition. The Limited Edition is available at the standard retail price while supplies last, while the Nano Edition will run you a whopping $150 and is billed for the "ultimate Crysis fan".

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Coming to PS3 this Fall [Updated with Trailer and Screenshots]

During Sony's media briefing at Gamescom 2010, Insomniac Games boss Ted Price revealed a new game in the Ratchet & Clank universe for Sony's home console.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One described on the Insomniac Games Twitter page as a "4-player online and same screen drop in drop out co-op" experience.

MAG Getting PlayStation Move Support

Sony has announced at Gamescom 2010 that Zipper Interactive's MAG will be getting PlayStation Move support through a game update. No release date for the patch has been announced.

Zipper is also working on SOCOM 4, which will also support Move. It is likely that the work done on integrating Move into SOCOM 4 is being retrofitted to MAG as an easy value-add. It will also represent your first chance to play a Zipper shooter with Move as SOCOM 4 was delayed into 2011.
