Over the next few days we will be offering StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm multiplayer tips. Today, we offer basic skills needed to be able to compete in multiplayer. In case you missed them, be sure to check out our single-player and multiplayer reviews for the game.
For the purposes of this tutorial article we'll assume you're at least familiar with the basics of a real-time strategy game. Heart of the Swarm is arriving just in time to save StarCraft 2. After three years of experimentation it is only recently that players have truly solved the game. The so-called meta-game (the growth and shift of popular strategies over time) has finally stagnated, and most dedicated players know the best build orders and exactly how to respond to certain threats.
HotS promises to mix up that paradigm for at least a couple of years. The new and tweaked units that Blizzard has brought into the fray have an outsized effect, and actually manage to change the feel of the game in substantial ways.

While many StarCraft 2 fans are all about the intense, competitive action of multiplayer, there is a single-player campaign that evolves the story of the ongoing conflict between the Terrans, the Protoss, and the Zerg. The newest Heart of the Swarm expansion focuses on Sarah Kerrigan, the former Queen of Blades, and her ongoing hatred of the Terran Dominion leader Arcturus Mengsk.

So you've bought Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for $60 and paid $50 for the map packs for but you still want to spend more money on it, what do you do? This being the Internet, you pay $2 to wrap guns in bacon. From today, Activision is rolling out microtransactions for little bits and pieces in Cod Blops 2, including extra slots and storage space and cosmetic items like extra Calling Cards and, yes, bacon skins for weapons.

The Marvel comics character Deadpool has the unique distinction of being self-aware that he's inside a comic book. He'll crack inside jokes, read other characters' thought bubbles, and so on. When it comes time to make a trailer for the upcoming video game from High Moon Studios, the obvious course of action is to take that seed of meta and grow it into a full-blown crazy tree.

The Thunder King has been unleashed in Pandaria with the newest content update for Blizzard's World of Warcraft. The 5.2 patch was released today and includes a new raid, new world bosses, and a new hub for daily quests that players usually loathe for building rep with a new faction.

There is nothing more frustrating then getting a Legendary item to drop after a boss fight in Diablo 3, only to find that it is not as good as a Rare you have, or worse yet, a duplicate Legendary drop. Blizzard is looking at ways to fix that problem, as well as how to maximize farming monsters and minimize using the auction house.

Sarah Kerrigan may no longer be the Queen of Blades and leader of the Zerg in StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, but the former Terran Ghost sure has a lot of pent up anger she needs to vent in the newest trailer from Blizzard for the game, entitled Vengeance.

You had surely already guessed this, being a sensible person with even a smidgen of awareness of how the video games industry works, but now it's confirmed: the PS3 and PS4 editions of Diablo 3 will not have cross-platform play with the PC original. It won't support a keyboard and mouse either, Blizzard says. Gosh, it's like it's a different game made specifically for consoles.
