Diablo 3 lead designer: PvP not 'awesome' enough yet

Though Blizzard has released Diablo 3 on consoles and is inching closer to completing the Reaper of Souls expansion, the long-delayed PvP mode still appears to be a long way off. Nearly a year after Blizzard declared that the game mode was not meeting expectations, lead designer Kevin Martens has offered an update of sorts as to why PvP has yet to see the light of day.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction have players fighting aliens

Updated with the official trailer.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will introduce a brand new game mode, one involving aliens. Initially teased by Call of Duty's official Instagram, new details about "Extinction" have surfaced from a leak. The mode appears to be Infinity Ward's take on sci-fi co-op shooting, much like Treyarch's zombie modes from Black Ops and World at War.

Blur is back... as a top-down mobile game

Blur is back... as a top-down mobile game

Bizarre Creations' last game before they were unceremoniously shuttered by Activision was arcade racer Blur. Essentially Mario Kart with realistic cars, the game had you using power-ups to attack other vehicles and gain the edge.

Blur is back--just not in the way you may expect. Activision has licensed the IP to Marmalade Play, who have transformed it into a top-down arcade racer for iOS and Android.

Wii U 8GB Basic system returns with Skylanders bundle

Wii U 8GB Basic system returns with Skylanders bundle

We thought Nintendo was phasing out the Basic Wii U model, especially after the company admitted that people preferred the 32GB model. Given how little space the 8GB model gives consumers, it isn't a very good deal. Yet, Nintendo is trying to give the white Basic model some traction with a new bundle--one that comes with Skylanders: Swap Force.

Call of Duty: Ghosts PC requires 64-bit Windows

Explosions. And not just any explosions. These are next-gen explosions. Will your PC be able to handle Call of Duty: Ghosts? Even if your rig was able to handle last year's Black Ops 2, you may want to double-check. This year, Infinity Ward has upped the min-spec, requiring 6GB of RAM and a 64-bit version of Windows. But with these requirements, at least Infinity Ward promises that the PC version will look even better than the next-gen console versions.

Explosions: The Call of Duty: Ghosts launch trailer

Here's the "gameplay launch trailer" for Call of Duty: Ghosts. And why yes, there are explosions, thank you for asking.

The trailer has a bit of a Battlefield vibe, thanks to its exploding tanker and focus on destructibility. But note: Ghosts has dogs, while DICE's shooter does not. Also, is that a scene from Gravity at the end of the trailer?

Better late than never? The Amazing Spider-Man game from Beenox released on nearly every platform imaginable when the corresponding film came out in 2012--except for Vita. Activision is making up for that omission next month.

On November 19, The Amazing Spider-Man will be available on Vita. It'll be $39.99. The handheld version is based on the console original, maintaining the "same spirit" while adding Vita-specific features.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game announced, coming 2014

Beenox, Activision's go-to developer of Spider-Man games, is working on a tie-in game for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Coming spring 2014, alongside the film, the sequel promises to offer "more abilities, more upgrades, more of everything" than the first game offered. Speaking at New York Comic Con, executive producer Stephane Gravel promised that "we're not retelling the story from the movie. We're telling our own unique side-story," one that will include characters from the first game and "new classic characters from the Marvel universe."
