Oh, live-action trailers! They're how publishers try to convince us that their games have deep, meaningful stories, and that our parents will definitely respect us now because look, these are actual human beings shooting men in the face and the face-shooting isn't the part we enjoy, honest! So here's a new trailer for Bungie's FPS-RPG Destiny, directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man; Iron Man 2), which mixes live-action footage with that other hollow trailer medium, CG.

Activision deliberately crossed everyone up when it announced the next Call of Duty as Ghosts instead of Modern Warfare 4 on May 1. It was a calculated attempt to reboot the franchise with a new generation of consoles on the horizon. But no matter what it was called, the company was confident the next game would be popular no matter what.
"I plugged in Modern Warfare 4 into Google on my phone and saw there were 122 million search results for the name," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. "Just for fun, I plugged in Dark Knight Rises, which does exist, and there were 116 million results."

Perhaps the most mysterious addition to the PlayStation 4 controller is its touchpad. Not quite a touchscreen, we're wondering how developers will utilize such a unique (and odd) addition to the DualShock.
The upcoming PS4 version of Diablo 3 will use the touchpad in some way, although Blizzard is being a bit coy about how it all actually works. "Diablo 3 has a lot of cool inventory things," lead console designer Josh Mosqueira said in a new video. "Just the possibility of the trackpad is really exciting and we can't wait to dive in and make it as awesome as we can."

Bungie has a way with expansive worlds and fiction--just look at the Halo series. So we expected the same from Destiny, and the company has started to show its hand, sharing more details on the world, story, and the three classes.

Last year's Transformers game continued High Moon Studios' legacy of great licensed games. They may not pick up Game of the Year awards, but they're certainly well-liked by fans. Deadpool seems destined to continue that winning streak with a competent brawler designed as a love letter for fans.
In the meta-story of Deadpool: The Game, developer HMS is coerced into developing a game centered around our titular hero after he mails a bomb to their office. No fourth wall will be safe, as the game's narrative centers around Deadpool's attempt to not only make his game real, but as sexy as possible.

After the release of the 1.0.8 patch for Diablo 3, some players uncovered a bug that allowed them to duplicate gold through both auction houses and gather billions--and in some cases, trillions--in ill-gotten gains, forcing Blizzard to close the AHs.
The bug has supposedly been fixed and is being tested, and the AHs will be back online once the fix is live. However, Blizzard has decided not to rollback the servers to pre-patch status, instead choosing to deal with the individual player accounts that decided to play fast and loose with the rules, namely don't exploit bugs you find.

Infinity Ward helms development of the newly announced Call of Duty: Ghosts. However, Modern Warfare 3 co-developer Sledgehammer Games is sitting this one out, left to work on their own original project instead.
"Our team is heads down on our next project, but best wishes to the hardworking team at IW!" the studio tweeted (via Polygon). Sledgehammer is reportedly working on a Call of Duty project, but the tweet implies it's an entirely separate one.

If Activision didn't abandon Call of Duty's numbering scheme with 2008's World at War, this year's Ghosts would be Call of Duty 10. Ever since 2008, Activision's FPS franchise has seen an annual release, and against all odds, has managed to continuously grow its sales numbers. Even before an official reveal, the franchise has developed a loyal fanbase willing to buy new Call of Duty games, sight unseen. We talked to a number of Call of Duty fans about why they're still interested in COD a decade in, and what Activision can do to keep them playing for years to come.
