Welp, since the last time I showed Isengard off to you guys there has, of course, been the whole griefing incident ( http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?id=24061225 ). Because of this, I decided to take some time to work on Orthanc itself, instead of the grounds (Isengard).
We've hit the skybox! I need another 64 blocks! http://www.shackpics.com/files/Orthanc2_rdvfwoj7szrrf10qioen.jpg The horns, and the windows on the 3rd and 5th floor are all new. Adding the little flourishes is starting to make it come together as Orthanc, though due to the height restriction it's looking a little stumpy. I'm thinking of bringing in the first and second floor a couple of blocks (i.e. the tower will taper less) to decrease this perception.
Of course you'll want to see a view from the roof now: http://www.shackpics.com/files/Gwaihir_0dpgmytfuz5hlvnm7lf1.jpg (Kudos to whoever put that sign there!)
The inside is starting to see some work too, although this is a little slower as there isn't much furniture to speak of in Minecraft yet. Here's some very selective pics:
The forge and warehouse. http://www.shackpics.com/files/forgewarehouse_xbivpnc69nkeed904lm5.jpg That thing in the foreground will be a cobble generator whenever lava gets fixed in SMP. Background is the warehouse full of the three mountains that were razed for Orthanc.
The beginnings of an indoor oasis, on the 5th floor: http://www.shackpics.com/files/indooroasis_4hxp5cdestlxzzuowjz3.jpg
Finally, underneath Isengard, people have been give free rein to build whatever crazy underground stuff they like. I advise that you visit RogerDandy's Glory Hole (now with Gift Shop!) sometime, just to visit the loopy Lava Falls: http://www.shackpics.com/files/Rogerdandyslavafallsgiftshop_3j98vh345rbq70albnbt.jpg
OK, I lied, there was a bit of work on the grounds. That moat that about 10 shackers dredged last week: http://www.shackpics.com/files/chaingang_lzn4xfi3vca36etep2b3.png is now full: http://www.shackpics.com/files/thedocks_7eg6et2nc8ertduqqgpi.jpg , with bridges at the SW, SE, NE, and NW corners so you can visit all the local landmarks.
Last pic: the whole place looking badass at night http://www.shackpics.com/files/Isengardbynight_3ksuqlc5690bzvzwf09r.jpg
Now I just need to decide what to do with Isengard, which leads me to...
