The problem with this analogy is also simple -- an airplane is not a car. An airplane's forward momentum comes from thrust, which is a force from the engines on the air behind the plane. The wheels are, as you said, free spinning and do not factor into the equation. The function of the wheels is just to provide the plane with a (near) frictionless surface to maneuver on. Since the wheels are not responsible for any significant force on the airplane, the rate at which the ground moves beneath them is irrelevant to the overall speed of the craft, and so the airplane will still lift off.
