We've finally got a professionally employed English caster. GOMTV is currently running the GOMTV Star Invitational, with sixteen of the best or most influential Starcraft players. On top of that, they are broadcasting a separate ENGLISH stream online with the hopes of capitalizing on the foreign market. Tasteless (the commentator who has done Blizzcon, WWI, and WCG) will be doing solo commentary for the entire tournament, and is in the talks to begin commentating on further tournaments.
I'm posting this hear because GOM is gauging their future actions based on the response and traffic that this project generates from foreign sources. I know some people enjoy casually watching Starcraft, and this is fairly easy way to watch professional games with english commentary.

Quake -> QW -> Q2 -> Q3
Tribes -> Tribes 2
Myth -> Myth 2
The shift from "NetQuake" to QuakeWorld was especially fun, but the other transitions had their entertaining moments too.
I was never a great MP player in Myth, and this was a while ago, so take this with a grain of salt... but I remember two primary gameplay complaints about Myth 2 compared to Myth:
- Faster unit speed and more powerful attacks = more micro, more twitch, fewer tactics
- Negligible spacing for friendly units = "blobbing" your guys together; formations less useful
I'm sure there were other gripes that would come to mind if I stewed on this for a while. There was also a lot of going-on about some of the control changes, bungie.net changes and scoring quirks, etc.
Well, in the end Myth 2 was clearly more popular than Myth, both competitively and among the great unwashed masses. There's a lot of factors that go into that, but surely its gameplay couldn't have been that bad. :-) I still think I prefer Myth to Myth 2, but I'm willing to acknowledge that that could be from a combination of nostalgia and Myth's slower speed being nicer to my old-guy brain and reflexes. Certainly the talk about Myth 2 being "all twitch and no tactics" was just hot air, and if it did lose some things that were nice about Myth, it added some cool stuff as well.
