I don't get it. This thing is retarded expensive for a cell phone. I hated paying $200 for mine. Now if I actually needed all the PDA stuff I'd go for one of those blackberry-type things, but seriously. wtf? Is it because it's Apple and it's hip to like Apple stuff? How does all that warrant two-and-a-half-times the cost of a normal, fully functional cell phone?
Most importantly how is the voice quality? All services seem to use as low quality as possible, I can barely understand people on the phone unless they enunciate perfectly. Is this a service bottleneck, or is it restricted by the phone?

DISCLAMER: this is just my humble opinion being expressed, in which case if I've pissed off any apple Iphone marks, just know its a matter of personal preference and I'm in no way saying you are wrong for liking it....so GO FOR IT, and get that phone!
Appart from the market hype that's been going on around this phone...and besides the fact that its basically a cell phone\ipod....What REALLY is the big deal here???
Let me explain:
I, for one, think that it IS overpriced from the stand point of featers it offers...
Sure, you can watch video, browse the net, get email and listen to music. but what about other things that I would want my PDA - type phone to do?
What else is there!? You ask?
I want my phone to do all of the above AND be able to do office-type stuff AS WELL..
I have the Windows based Palm Treo and along with it, I have a wireless keyboard that can open up word, excel, and powerpoint RIGHT FROM MY PHONE.
I can't tell you how many times that feature has come in handy when takeing notes in a business meeting or casting workshop! Plus the full size keyboard folds up small enough to fit into your shirt pocket. Throw in the fact that I can put in a memory expansion card for extra storage and I've got myself a pretty good setup.
I guess what I'm trying to say is along with all the entertainment features, I also would like some productive features thrown in there as well (besides email)....so far, I've not seen anything like that mentioned for the iphone. Not sure what the roadmap looks like for it later, but for now, I'm going to stick with my Windows Mobile based phone and get some work done.
Just my 2 bits..
