This was a tremendous year for video games. We saw Nintendo make a splash on smartphones with Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run. We saw the dawn of virtual reality with the launch of multiple consumer head mounted displays. We also saw one of the finest lineups of games in recent memory. Only single player game? What?

Also, calling DOOM (or even Wolfenstein: The New Order) a throwback is really doing the game a disservice.

You need to play DOOM if you claim to like shooters, or especially if you used to like shooters.

It only won because of Shack nostalgia.

I don't think that's necessarily true. It was toward the top of most GOTY lists from all sites wasn't it? I didn't like it at all but seems like a LOT of people did.

Overwatch doesn't need any awards, just like Star Wars doesn't need Oscars. It's amazing, everybody knows it, and it's going to be around for years.

Overwatch was my GOty, too. Until I played DOOM.

It's $19.79 right now on Steam. Stop being fucking dumb and play it.

Nothing can equal this game. Not even games I've never played!

            Legion is World of Warcraft?

It's the best WoW expansion for years but it's still hamstrung by that receptive MMO formula. If it works for you I guess Legion was amazing, I was impressed by how generous it was with content and trying new things but I went cold turkey once the grind set in again at max level.

Played for a month or two and enjoyed the game so much. No need to play it after that.

I've always hated the grind, but I was captured enough that I just recently finished maxing out one of my artifact weapons. I needed to do that to feel like I completed the game... or something.

Also, I found the Suramar story fairly engaging and kind of wanted to see how that turned out. I may maintain a subscription until I can run through the Suramar City raid on raidfinder.

WATCH DOGS 2 featured at the start of the video but didn't make the cut? I'm not surprised about the omission but maybe it just squeaked into the top 11? Got t for Christmas and can't wait to check it out.
