Star Wars Battlefront details Season Pass and three new game modes

Given how the beta has gone, the idea of an expensive Season Pass may be hard to swallow, but nevertheless, Star Wars Battlefront is getting one. It's also getting three new game modes, including one that puts a Star Wars legend on a team of six.

Anyone familiar with EA and DICE probably should have seen this one coming. Yes, Star Wars Battlefront will include a Season Pass, which will include four unrevealed expansion packs. The Season Pass will take Battlefront players across different corners of the Star Wars universe, as well as offer owners two weeks of early access to those packs.

EA and DICE also revealed the game's Ultimate Edition, which includes the Season Pass content. The price? A whopping $119.99. The beta is still running through tomorrow, so maybe try it out and determine for yourselves whether this will be worth such a costly expense.

As long as EA and DICE were offering up some new reveals, they also unveiled some new game modes. Droid Run will see teams of six chase after three GNK Droids. Teams that capture and control the droids will earn points, making this something of a moving Conquest/Domination mode. Teams will have only ten minutes to find the droids they're looking for.

Next up is Cargo, which pits teams of six Rebels and Imperials on a map with five boxes of cargo on each side. The object of this Capture the Flag-style mode is to hit the enemy base and loot the cargo before running back to your own team's base.

Finally, there's Hero Hunt. This of this as Battlefront's take on the traditional VIP mode, except the VIP is a guy with a lightsaber. Yes, the idea is that one member of each team of six is a Star Wars legend, whether it's Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and more. The object is to keep this legend alive as long as possible. So while teams will be going after these legendary figures, they're far from defenseless and will prove to be a tough kill.

It's almost time for Star Wars Battlefront to release. Look for the game to hit PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 17.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Supremacy (Conquest-like point capture) is also 20v20
Fighter Squadron is 10v10 (plus 10v10 AI)
        Blast is 10v10 TDM

The rest seem like 8v8 or less.

So much for the epic star wars feel. It's starting to feel more BF mod than a real SW game. But, I admit I'm highly jaded in this regard.

Hero Hunt sounds awesome. As soon as the season pass goes on sale, I will probably jump on it, but it is a little too steep in price as it stands now.

This game is getting less and less impressive the more information that gets out. Since I'm getting for free I'll probably try it out a bit, but definitely wouldn't pay money for this. As for the DLC nonsense.. well there's a suckered born every minute.

        Played beta.. was not entertained.

Seems more like full on fan service vs a decent game.
Reminds me of Battlefield for 5 year olds + star wars.

though ill admit, i didnt play much.. spamming unlimited pew pew and cooldowns in a barren, white, landscape just didnt do it for me.

Agreed, very much a BF feel vs a real epic SW game.

Can someone answer this for me? I want to play something like the old conquest or these new walker and dog fight modes with just my friends against the AI. Is that doable? Because if it's not, I'm leaning heavily towards skipping this, Star Wars or no.

Nope, it only has basic console-style matchmaking. No server list or way to change any server settings.
