Batman: Arkham Knight PC won't be fixed until November at the latest, says report

The PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight may not be fixed until November the latest. This is according to an alleged leaked internal memo from WB Games to EB Games.

PC gamers have either been unable to purchase Batman: Arkham Knight due to WB Games pulling it from sale or have been playing a broken product. While we know it’ll take “significant” work to fix the game, we couldn’t have imagined it would require several months of work. But that’s exactly what an internal email sent to EB Games staff members claims as Warner Bros. says they should expect the game to be fixed in the spring.

Before you start pulling your hair out, the leaked internal memo was picked up by Kotaku Australia. Spring takes place between September and November in the land down under, so don’t go on thinking you’ll be waiting until 2016 to play Batman: Arkham Knight.

“As previously advised we have stopped sales of Batman: Arkham Knight PC while Warner and Rocksteady work on addressing performance issues with the game,” reads the alleged internal memo. “The latest information from Warner is that the updates won’t be available until Spring. Due to this we have made the difficult decision to recall all PC stock from stores to return to the vendor until an acceptable solution is released.”

PC gamers who were hoping to be able to purchase Batman: Arkham Knight, or at least play a stable version, were treated to some additional bad news this week as WBIE has halted the release of the game’s first DLC expansion that stars Batgirl and future DLC until the game is fixed. Fortunately, it looks like you may not have missed much according to our review of Batgirl: A Matter of Family.

Wonder how much money they are losing over this situation?

It's good they're addressing these issues now - but I still have a bad taste in my mouth over it as it seems like they only did it due to the outrage and refunds.

You shouldnt need to be pressured into releasing high quality content to your consumers - it should be the objective every time you work on a project

Wow, at least they are fixing it and from the looks of things fixing it right but that is fucking crazy

It could also be as early as September. But, y'know, I guess that wouldn't get clicks.

It's also "allegedly" from a "leaked memo" to GameStop stores. In Asutralia. I wouldn't be surprised if it's indeed true, but for now let's just call it what it is: a rumor.

I fell for the clickbait about this from Polygon on Twitter and after reading the article, I thought the same thing. When did journalism become so hyperbolic?

I am pretty close. The first patched helped fix enough to make it playable.

Sucked, I wasted 10 hours on PC before finally getting it on PS4. Wish I didn't waste the time on PC.

I'm guessing it was installed on an ssd because it runs even more terribly on a regular hdd.

Oddly enough, the Harley mission runs perfectly fine for me. I think because it is a small, contained environment it doesn't suffer from the open world performance problems. You can also beat it in about 15 minutes so the memory leak didn't catch up to me haha

I did the story missions on PC. Mainly because I had a 980. I would have torn out my hair if I didn't have a great GFX card. But I did get it for something like 30 bucks

I did, 100%. Performance was fine for me, but I realize that's the exception.

Yeah, I did. After unlocking the framerate via the .ini tweak, it was fine for the most part. PS4 version does look better though, which is kinda pathetic.

Still, the game itself was excellent. I was glued to it the weekend it came out.

OK, so people were able to play it all the way through -- what was the biggest roadblock to it working? CPU? A video card brand? A level of video card?

It was just a game of chance. I had a friend with the exact same system specs as mine and he could play it fine. Zero problems. But it stuttered and stormed for me. I still beat it, but it was annoying enough at times to have to cut the game off and walk away for a bit.

little bummed but since I got it with my video card and have a backlog the size of Kilimanjaro I'll be ok. Would rather play it when its fixed. Guess I'll probably kick Fallout 4 a bit down the road.

Bethesda usually does ok, right? It just seems like now that we're in this new wave of current gen console games, PC ports have been sucking again.

trusting game devs to port their game to pc. We trusted rocksteady to port arkham knight to pc but they had a team of 12? from some other company doing it.

Historically Bethesda games have been pretty buggy...but they're usually buggy regardless of platform.

I get the impression Bethesda games sell well on PC, maybe mistaken but....so I think they'll do right by PC.

Fallout 4 will be fine. If anything, Bethesda struggles to make their console versions run well, at least last gen.

oh I'm sure I will I just meant I'd play batman for a few months while they worked out the kinks, and I love the fallouts but I was also thinking about letting the mod scene develop a little first before jumping in. Its tough though we will see when it comes out, Batman might just come much later.

Not a fan of this headline. It's misleading and poorly written =(

First, I imagine it's supposed to be "November at the latest" - lets write this one off as a typo.

Second, if you're going to frame it as November at the latest then it should not be a negative sentence. It should be "will be fixed by November at the latest"; this is a weird rule but saying "at the latest" is basically adding a negative so you really don't want to do both. You could also say "won't be fixed until September at the earliest" which I think is probably the best route, but that is simply a matter of opinion.

      We can do better.

Batman: Arkham Knight PC fix expected no earlier than September.
B:AK PC could remain broken until November.
B:AK PC patch taking months more than we expected.
      Etc.
