The Witcher 3 will take over 200 hours to complete

For those looking to get the most out of their games, you'll need to dedicate over 200 hours to experience everything The Witcher 3 will have to offer.

CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take players over 200 hours to finish if they want to do everything the game has to offer, said senior game designer Damien Monnier on Twitter.

Monnier revealed the game’s possible length when he was asked how long he thought the game would be with all side quests completed. He admitted it’d be hard to say, but his guess would bring it to the 200+ hour range.

We already had an inkling just how massive The Witcher 3 would be based on a number of factors, such as its 36 possible world states as well as how wide and vast its open frontier will be. To hear the game is potentially over 200 hours has us wondering if the game might be too long for comfort, although it should be able to keep us entertained during the inevitable summer lull gaming season. Either way, we're still excited about the game, but we'll be cautious when it comes to side quests and additional content, or else we'll find ourselves in an extremely deep hole.

Once you pass the 60 hour mark, even the best games get really hard to keep pushing through. I hope most of that 200 hours is sidequests and content you can do after beating the main plot.

Yep. Honestly, 20 hours is the sweet spot for me. Give multiple paths, multiple endings, lots of optional side content, but a 200 hour main quest is a game I'll never beat, and will probably never play.

I can't think of a single game which has ever had a main quest that long.

I hope it's like Skyrim and I can just do what u want, explore and ignore the main story, etc.

To me, 10-20 hours is already a long time to be spending in a singleplayer game. Not a fan of RPGs that add dozens of hours of "content" just so they can say the game continues on forever.

No kidding. I'm not sure what's going through their heads to make them think that's a generally positive bullet point for their marketing.

i have a few people on my steam list with hundreds of hours in skyrim so it might be a pro point for some people, although as others have mentioned it seems like a lot of that time might be filler ( yay 65 yellow flowers, NOW im done).

I love CD Projekt Red, but I really dislike some of the ridiculous things they are quoting. It used to be "50 hour story and 50 hours of side quests", and now its jumped to 200. Also, they've been saying crazy things about the world size like "38 times bigger than Witcher 2." None of these things appeal to me...it just sounds like bad design that will waste the players time. I hope I'm wrong, but I am worried. Bigger is not always better.

This already went badly for me on Dragon Age 3

That sounds pretty dumb. I am sure like Skyrim I will see less than half of it. =\

Wow, these guys are fossils of something. Don't they know that games now are supposed to be like 2-3 hours and with lame graphics and Internet memes? Like, come on, guys.
