King of Fighters XIII coming to North America

Fight fans, rejoice! Publishing hero Atlus has announced during E3 that it's bringing The King of Fighters XIII, the latest in SNK Playmore's long-running 2D fighting series, to North America this holiday season for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Atlus boasts that KoF XIII is "the HD entry in the series that fans have been waiting for." You can expect the return of "fan favourite" fighters Mai, K', and Vice, "vastly improved network functionality," a less-restricted camera perspective, characters standing out better from the backgrounds, new super moves, and more. Not everyone's a fan of Dante's new look in Ninja Theory's reboot-o-game DmC: Devil May Cry but apparently Hollywood has an eye for it. Capcom announced today that Sony Pictures Entertainment subsidiary Screen Gems is developing a live-action movie based upon the game.

Co-op zombie shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City sounds intriguing in theory but how does it look in practice? While publisher Capcom did release the ubiquitous unhelpful E3 cinematic trailer and batch of screenshots this week, it also kindly has shared actual gameplay trailers, so we can judge for ourselves.

Odin Sphere dev's Dragon's Crown announced for Vita, PS3

Vanillaware, maker of the gorgeous Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Odin Sphere, is developing a new hand-drawn game for release on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 in spring 2012, publisher UTV Ignition Games has announced at E3.

Supporting four-player online co-op, Dragon's Crown is a fantasy romp with dungeons to ransack and the end goal of stopping a dragon threatening the world. Possibly looting its crown, too. Super Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition unveiled

Back in July 2010, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono quietly revealed plans for a revamp of Street Fighter III: Third Strike, noting that it was "not going to come out in the immediate future." At E3 this week, Capcom finally gave the game its grand formal announcement.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition is slated to arrive some time this year on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, priced at $14.99 (1,200 Microsoft Points). Read more »

New Wii Kirby confirmed for fall

Back in January, Nintendo quietly revealed a new Kirby game for Wii was in the works, but had little to say about it at the time. With E3 in full swing, Nintendo has revealed a little more.

The new Kirby will launch in North America this fall, but Nintendo still hasn't decided upon a name, referring to it by the working title Kirby Wii. It'll support drop-in, drop-out co-op for up to four players, with the other three getting to be Meta Knight, King Dedede and Waddle Dee. Read more »

The immortality of NeverDead's hero is put to the test in a huge chunk of new media released by publisher Konami to celebrate E3. The new screenshots and trailers see Bryce having his limbs and head ripped off by assorted demons and monsters, or even yanking them off himself to use as weapons and tools.

An eight-minute gameplay video gives the best look at what Rebellion's bringing to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this winter, filled with immolation, dismemberment, death, and destruction as Bryce takes a little trip to a museum. Read more »

Forza Motorsport 4 due October 11

Turn 10's latest Xbox 360-exclusive racing sim Forza Motorsport 4 will be released in October, publisher Microsoft revealed has during E3. A new round of screenshots was also released, for your viewing pleasure.

Forza 4 will be released in North America on October 11, before arriving in Europe on October 14, then hitting the rest of the world on October 20. Say, that's about when Microsoft's new Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel is due to launch. What a happy coincidence. Read more »

Much-loved indie developer Q-Games has announced its next game in the delightful PixelJunk series at E3, a side-scrolling shooter. The aptly-named PixelJunk SideScroller is headed to PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network this year.

Based upon a bonus level from PixelJunk Shooter 2, SideScroller features the simulated fluids and gasses from Q-Games' last release. Water, magma, metal and other liquids will be on hand to destroy your foes--or you, if you're not careful. Read more »

Need for Speed The Run revealed: you run

Electronic Arts was somewhat vague about Need for Speed The Run when it announced the game back in April, leaving us to imagine yet another game simply of driving fast cars. Turns out, it's a bit more complicated than that.

Five minutes of Black Box's racer was demonstrated at E3 yesterday and, it turns out that, as well as driving on cars, you'll also be running on foot. Hence the name. In retrospect, it's obvious. Read more »

Dance Central 2 includes multiplayer, song importing

Harmonix just took the stage during Microsoft's pre-E3 2011 to reveal a number of new featuring coming to the sequel to its Kinect-exclusive dance title: Dance Central.

Dance Central 2 will feature enhancements to the "Break it Down" mode from the first game, a campaign mode, the ability to import songs from the original, and a simultaneous two-player multiplayer mode. Read more »

Kinect Sports: Season Two announced

A follow-up to Rare's exercise substitute Kinect Sports has been announced at Microsoft's E3 2011 press conference, creatively named Kinect Sports: Season Two.

Season Two will bring six new sports to the world of virtual sports--skiing Baseball, skiing, golf, darts, tennis, and (American) football. It'll also add voice control, for things such as changing clubs in golf, and new Kinect gestures. The official announcement teases that you'll get to "[call] an audible in American football using in-game voice commands," or crouch down "to get a detailed read of the green in golf." Read more »
