Having celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee only yesterday here in England, Atlus's announcement that it's bringing "action-RPG brawler" Code of Princess westward for Nintendo 3DS leaves me feeling a little short-changed. Rather than simulating standing po-faced on a boat whilst waving, CoP offers side-scroller beat 'em up shenanigans. Our monarchy is rubbish.
Given that E3 is next week, the lineup of new releases is rather yet, at the same time, surprisingly full. We'll be getting Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, Inversion, Dungeonbowl, Bang Bang Racing, and some other odds and ends.
It's that magical time of the year, when publishers reveal their poorly kept secrets and we politely gasp in surprise. This morning was Warner Bros.' turn to shock and amaze, announcing LEGO The Lord of the Rings for every platform under the sun. Yes, Frodo and the gang are off to Mount Doom, in LEGO form.
Next week will bring Capcom's curious action-RPG Dragon's Dogma, WW2 sim Iron Front, which is built upon the Arma 2 engine, the PC edition of Alan Wake's American Nightmare, and the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
Surprise! A new entry in EA's ball-kicking FIFA franchise has been announced, for release this fall. Before you sigh and roll your eyes, you jaded curmudgeon you, EA promises a "revolutionary set of game-changing innovations" for FIFA Soccer 13, which is surely not hyperbole.
Diablo III is coming out next week. That is all. Oh wait, no, it's not, we're also getting Max Payne 3. No biggie. And A Game of Thrones, and Sonic 4: Episode 2, and PixelJunk 4am, and... and...
Another week, another nice big bag of new releases! Next week will bring games including Sniper Elite V2, Tera, Fable Heroes, Mortal Kombat on Vita, plus Nexuiz and Port Royale 3 on PC.
"Let's kick that ball!" The famous footie chant will once again ring out this fall, as Konami has announced PES 2013. The wholly expected next annual installment in the Pro Evolution Soccer series is, according to Konami, "the most faithful recreation of modern day football to date," though it seems both PES and FIFA toss similar claims about every year.

In ye oldene dayes, if a console game was broken, it was stuck that way forever. Or, in the case of the Nintendo 3DS, in ye moderne dayes too. Not for much longer, though, as the handheld is getting support for game patches in a firmware update this week.
Cor, a new week already? You'd better learn what's coming out, then. Next week's new releases include Prototype 2 on consoles, the bloody Bloodforge, and the PC editions of Binary Domain and Risen 2: Dark Waters.
Next week will bring our 2011 Game of the Year, fantasy RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to Xbox 360, so Xboxeers can see what all the fuss was about. There are some tasty-looking downloadable games coming too, including Trials Evolution, Botanicula, and the PC editions of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.
Quality wins over quantity in next week's lineup of new releases, with games including IGF 2012 Grand Prize winner Fez, pretty throwback dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock, Skullgirls, and the free-to-play Tribes: Ascend. There's also Fatal Frame spin-off Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, if you're curious, and a few more.
What's coming out next week? Oh, you know, Duke Nukem Forever and Ever, Final Fantasy XIII-3: Reckoning - Retribution, Milo & Kate, and Elite 4. Ha ha not really, April Fool's! Now you look stupid! No, we're actually getting the Devil May Cry HD Collection, Grasshopper's Diabolical Pitch, Kinect Star Wars, Xenoblade Chronicles, and more.
Next week's new releases include the console version of Ridge Racer Unbounded, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, the PC edition of Rayman Origins, indie survive 'em up Lone Survivor, eerie puzzle-platformer Closure, and alternate-reality shooter/RTS Gettysburg: Armored Warfare.
