The remake of indie darling The Binding of Isaac is being appropriately dubbed: "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth."
If you've already played the game and its expansion, you'll still have reason to check out the remake. McMillen promises it will feature another Wrath-sized expansion, a new final chapter and ending, two more playable characters, and a ton of other goodies. It will also bring some cut content from the Flash version, including 2-player local co-op, a 16-bit styled graphical demake, and some new music and remixes.

There's surely no better place to spend your Memorial Day holiday than a dank basement, so slap down $3 for The Binding of Isaac's DLC expansion Wrath of the Lamb. Out today, it adds five new chapters along with new enemies, bosses, room types, items, and a new final (final) boss.

With all of the high-profile, must-play, AAA releases coming out this time of year, it's pretty easy to miss out on some extraordinarily cool indie games. We've talked about the most recent Humble Indie Bundle this past week, but I figure a more in-depth look is in order this week. Past Humble Bundles have been pretty stellar, across the board, but I found the most recent clutch of games served up in "pay-what-you-want" format to be extra compelling, due to their old-school bents.

I'd like to kick things off this week by recommending one of this year's IndieCade finalists, called Loop Raccord (see top image). Developed by Plural Games (Nicolai Troshinsky), it's a game centered around manipulating a number of brief (and completely disparate) video clips in such a way that the action from one flows seamlessly into the next. I can't say I can remember ever playing another game about video editing, nor did I expect that the notion of meticulously tweaking animated .gifs could be so rewarding. The clips themselves are as strangely esoteric as they are brief, which adds to the enjoyment.

The Binding of Isaac--the latest game by indie developer Edmund McMillen (Super Meat Boy) launched this morning exclusively on Steam, along with a spanking new gameplay trailer. As previously reported, the action-based, roguelike RPG-shooter tells the story of a small naked boy trying to escape the murderous inclinations of his mother. God told her to kill Isaac, you see, and she's not one to argue with the Almighty. Not dark enough for you? Well, the game takes place in the cheery locale of Isaac's mother's basement.
