As promised, Bethesda's Kinect-powered update to Skyrim is going live tomorrow. The patch will enable a variety of voice commands, such as quick access to the map and saving. However, the most exciting aspect of the new functionality is the ability to shout commands--in English or Dragon Language. You'll be able to yell "Unrelenting Force" to your Kinect sensor. Or, if you're wearing the appropriate attire, you'll be able to yell "Fus Ro Dah."
But what else can you do? Bethesda has released the complete list of commands for you to peruse.

If The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and its host of NPCs have taught us anything, it's that taking "an arrow to the knee" is a surefire way to cut one's adventuring days short. Bethesda has announced that the 1.5 title update for the game is now available in beta form via Steam, adding (among other things) "swords to the chest," "daggers to the face," and "being blasted off a cliff" to the roster of career-ending injuries that can now be inflicted on Skyrim's denizens with cinematic flair.

Developer Bethesda Game Studios also reports that the game's next major patch (v.1.4) is also currently undergoing testing for all three platforms, and is expected to release for the PC version next week, when it will also be sent off to console manufacturers for certification.

With such a vast, open world to explore, it goes almost without saying that it would only be a matter of time before some enterprising modder attempted to leverage co-op functionality into Bethesda's latest opus, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Enter Skyrim Online, the fan-made mod that intends to allow players to quest, chat, and trade with other players.

Bethesda has used its favorite Dragon Shout today, crying "PATCH-THIS-NOW" into the heavens of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim this morning. Update 1.3 has been deployed for PC users via Steam making "general stability improvements," fixes to magic resistance issues that surfaced from update 1.2, and more. The update has also been submitted to Sony and Microsoft for consoles, but no date for its release has been established.
Also, for those asking about the developer enabling 'Large Address Aware,' Bethesda has confirmed that they plan to roll out support for "4-Gigabyte Tuning (Large Address Aware)" next week on PC. Patch notes are available after the break.

Shortly after having felled his first dragon in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, my Khajiit thief--known only as McMane--found himself in quite the conundrum. Thankful for assistance in defending his city's westernmost watchtower from scaly, fire-breathing doom, the Nordic Jarl of Whiterun had bestowed the title of Thane upon my unsuspecting feline, along with permission to purchase property within the city walls.

Even for the time, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion had slightly dodgy animations. Fortunately, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has a shiny new animation system in its revamped engine, with all sorts of motion-captured shininess, as developer Bethesda details in a new developer diary.
"We didn't want to have the 'one size fits all' for all characters. In the past, we had a very rigid system--every character, whether they were a bipedal humanoid, or a robot, or a quadraped, all had almost the exact same animation structure. And they don't move the same, and that was very limiting, and it just didn't make sense."

Microsoft continues its DLC strategy in the multiplatform content wars.
