Guild Wars 2 update to bring 'Megaservers' online

ArenaNet has already detailed some real updates (and one fake one) coming to Guild Wars 2 in April. One more big change is afoot, with the announcement of "Megaservers." The change is pitched as a total restructuring of how players connect to servers, making it easier to get on with your friends and guildmates.

Guild Wars 2 Wintersday event begins next week

ArenaNet does so enjoy its seasonal festivities, and is once again ringing in the winter solstice (and other December-y things, I suppose) with Wintersday celebrations. The snowy event will return to Guild Wars 2 next Tuesday, December 10, the developer confirmed today, with plenty of challenges, games, and gifts.

Guild Wars 2 free trial week starts Friday

Guild Wars 2 is holding another free trial event from Friday, for a little longer than usual. Rather than another trial weekend, it'll be a trial week running until the following Thursday. Landing smack bang in the middle of this will be the 'Twilight Assault' update, which developer ArenaNet today unveiled.

Guild Wars 2 sold 3.5 million in first year

Guild Wars 2 is coming up on its first anniversary, and ArenaNet is celebrating with some hearty back-slaps regarding its progress so far.

Guild Wars 2 has sold 3.5 million copies so far, which a handy new infographic claims makes it the fastest-selling MMO in history. It reached a peak count of 460,000 concurrent players. The infographic also breaks down stats like the race and profession percentages, and the top crafting disciplines.
